Manufacturing Guilt, from authors Dawn and Barrie Anderson, covers criminal cases in Canada. The cases involve criminals wrongly accused or those suspiciously railroaded through the justice system. Manufacturing Guilt is a compelling read, involving some of the most controversial criminal cases in the 20th Century. Fans of non-fiction or of law are encouraged to give this book read.
This reader is finding philosophy more and more enjoyable. On Truth: The Tyranny of Illusion looks at social conditioning, propaganda and other injustices. Insightful and full of knowledge, this book will challenge your view of the world.
This reader has become interested in a few gender focused reads. Esther Vilar's The Manipulated Man, ironically, is one of the better male empowerment books out there. Vilar is a female author who understands the specific struggles that most men endure. Well written and full of examples, The Manipulated Man is a compelling book on the many relationship traps that some men fall into.
The Origins of Virtue is a book from Matt Ridley. This book covers issues of social exchange, altruisim, the prisoner's dilemma. A very good read, Ridley covers lots of issues across several chapters. Some of those chapters include: "The Society of Genes," "The Division of Labour," "Telling Hawks from Doves" and many more. This book is highly recommended to those who enjoy philosophy and the exploration of humanism.
Scott Doviak's "Stephen King Films FAQ" is a comprehensive look at King's writings and adaptations into film. Doviak covers all of King's ups and downs, in regards to theatrical releases and his difficult relationships with director Dino de Laurentiis. This book is a flash from the past and well worth a read.
Tom Halland is an excellent researcher. His 2004 book, which covers the Roman Empire, has won the Hessell-Tiltman Prize for History. This book covers all of the political intrigue that one can handle. From Julius Caesar to Cicero and Sulla, all of the major personalities of this empire are here. And, this title is highly recommended for history buffs.
