Domplein, Utrecht, Allemagne, par Okra // The heart of the city of Utrecht is built on top of a castellum. The potential of the Domplein is to revitalize the significance of the origin of the city. The Castellum wall, at 4 metres underground, acquires a reference in the street and on the square. The dramatic potential of the Domplein is intensified with a clearly recognisable and mysterious dividing line. The marking is just as silent as the quiet archaeological witness underground.
A Swiss Village, Laboratory for Contemporary Art
Every summer the small Swiss town of Vercorin offers up its public spaces and buildings to artists to make do with them what they will. R&Art, the association behind the initiative, commissions contemporary works that seek to engage the village as a whole in an effort to reconcile Vercorin's history and traditions with contemporary culture. Lang/Baumann's "Street Painting #5" is a stunning testament to the strength of the villagers' goal to create "spaces for dialogues in synch with our times.

Time Tree In the lobby of the main entrance to the residences, there is a plaque and a symbolic camphor tree named the “Time Tree.” On the plaque, various histories have been carved as words and images. The information mostly traces the history of the samurai houses in the area from the Edo period to the present, and is largely divided into three categories: “History of Fujimi Ni-Chome,” “History of Edo/Tokyo,” and “Natural History.”

éco-quartier de Riesefeld, à l’ouest de Fribourg, en Allemagne. L’ancien champ d’épandage de 80 ha, qui a donné son nom au quartier, a laissé place à 4 800 logements qui accueillent aujourd’hui 10 000 personnes. Si les promoteurs ne se sont pas bousculés au début des travaux, le projet est achevé et presque entièrement occupé grâce aux « Baugruppen », ces collectifs de futurs habitants qui s’associent pour construire leur propre immeuble et qui ont permis de donner l’impulsion.
