Phyllis Webstad is the Founder of the Orange Shirt Society. This book is based on her story. Phyllis picked a shiny orange shirt to wear to her first day at residential school and when she arrived, they took her shirt and never gave it back. Now, every Sept. 30th (Orange Shirt Day) is dedicated to discussing the devastating impact of residential schools and celebrating the resilience of Indigenous Peoples.
