#ClosetSkellies The plants are teachers. They are connected to each other, and all other spiritual beings through the sacredness of life. When I remember who I am – a human being connected to all of life – I remember also that I am loved by the spirit world and our ancestors. And when I remember this, I remember to respect even the smallest of things. Our Lives are in the Land 48″ x 60″, Acrylic on Canvas, 2014 Christi Belcourt

North-West Rebellion - Wikipedia
#ClosetSkellies In the year 1885 the Northwest Rebellion took place in what is now known as Modern Day Saskatchewan. The Métis and other Native Groups were led by Louis Riel and Gabriel Dumont to fight for Justice against the Government. The building of the CPR cut the budget of the Indian department. They also sold their land and they also controlled the native groups by giving out food only to the 'good people'. Riel returned for these reasons and was later hung, while Dumont was exiled.
