Borbor is a rice porridge, a common theme in Asia.  In Thailand it is called Jok, in  Vietnam it goes by Cháo, and China calls it Congee. A delicious and simple Cambodian breakfast dish. This is a rice noodle soup most often made using pork broth. However, the version we enjoyed was made with a rich and herbal chicken broth.  The only real consistency is that the broth is clear and the ingredients in the soup are simple and few.  Ours had some carrots and green onion, with slices of chicken breast. Called Nhom Trouyong Chek in Cambodia and Goi Bap Chuoi. This banana blossom salad was made with carrot, cucumber, sawtooth coriander, sweet basil and peanuts and chicken. The large banana flow is finely sliced and soaked in lemon water for 30 minutes and rinsed. It has a flavour similar to artichoke, but much more mild. It's popular for the unique texture and it's ability to take on the flavours of anything it is cooked or tossed in. We really came to love banana salads during our travels in both Vietnam and Cambodia.   This dish was enjoyed at Robinson Bungalows on Koh Rong Samloem in Cambodia. A classic Chinese dish! One of the dishes we had in Singapore. While it’s fairly easy to find a place that does crispy, hot broccoli, this broccoli was incredibly infused with the flavours of the sauce. For a little added flavour it arrive served with green onion, mushrooms and carrot. The scallops were fresh and tender as well. Panaeng Curry Pork - Pork slowly simmered with earthy, complex panaeng curry paste, creamy coconut, shredded lime leaves, Thai basil, mushroom and fresh green peppercorn still on the stem! We had this at the restaurant Siam, in Regina. Deep-fried chicken mixed with ground pork, roasted rice, green onion, red onion, cilantro, in spicy soy dressing with lime juice. Roasted rice is such a lovely signature flavour in Thai cooking. This really brought home the flavours of Thailand. We've been there twice, and this is the only restaurant outside of Thailand that really captures the symphony of taste that is their cuisine. #thaifood #authenticthaifood #yqr #regina

There's no avoiding how important the Full English breakfast is to the culture of the UK. This hearty plate of food can be found all over the world now! A true Full English Breakfast should have fried tomatoes, fried mushrooms on the plate, and blood pudding. It wouldn't include hashbrowns. A beautiful brie-like goat cheese, with a strong earthy flavour. We particularly enjoyed it with the rinds as the mold on it gave it the complexity of blue cheese. We tasted this on a goat farm in Umbria, where they made all of their own cheeses and gave us a fabulous sampling of them. It was one of our favourite moments during out trip to Italy. #italy #cheese

A generous pot of rich chicken liver parfait, served with house house preserves, verjuis jelly, brioche at Nightingale in Vanvoucer. Verjuice is a highly acidic juice made by pressing unripe grapes other sour fruit - it seemed a bit vinegary and then we noticed the little pile of corse salt on the serving platter - with just a sprinkle of that the whole thing changed and became quite marvellous. We are reminded once again that things are placed before us for a reason - so pay attention!

. What a lovely combination of flavours, the natural earthiness of broccolini was smoothed out with creamy and rich tahini, loads of whole sesame seeds, and beautifully fragrant cilantro. Za'atar was sprinkled on top. We’re huge fans of za'atar, a Middle Eastern mix of herbs that include sumac, with hyssop, thyme and of course the za'atar plant, also known as Syrian oregano or Biblical Hyssop . #vancouver #yvr #vegtebles
Braised meatballs at Nightingale in Vancouver. This was the last dish we had in Vancouver after an EPIC three days of feasting. These meatballs were so light they were almost fluffy, in a well balanced tomato sauce, the kind that's so good you want to lick it off the plate. We particularly loved the addiction of pinenuts!

We visited Edmonton just to eat at The Marc. This is an appetizer of escargot, served over roasted bone marrow, with horseradish and pickled shallots. We planned a stay in Edmonton just to eat @themarcyeg - word had reached us that it was a gastronomic delight. Pintade (Guinea Fowl), otherwise known as a pet speckled hen, are bulbous birds commonly found in Africa. It has a delicious intense flavour, like concentrated poultry essence. Delicious wild mushrooms and leeks sit amongst a potato and parsnip puree with a maple-pear reduction. It has a stunning complex, yet gentle sweetness. A truly unforgettable dish! #finedining #edmonton
