There’s something about a sink centered on a large picture window that reminds me of my childhood- a peek into the backyard while parents are cleaning up in the Kitchen and kids are playing outside. There have been countless times that my clients mention this same memory and desire the window over their sink. Does it bring back childhood memories for anyone else?! 🙋🏽‍♀️

Floating shelves are our favorite way to break up a large run of cabinetry and allow more natural light in from a window. If you have beautiful plateware to showcase, even a small section of floating shelves can add visual interest with minimal upkeep.

Everyone has a different version of the perfect shower. We love to chat about everything a client needs- from showerhead style to shampoo niche size to bench seat location- and then bring together materials that reflect the design of the home but with a relaxing feel. Because often the time spent alone in your shower is the best part of the day. 💦

We leave for spring break in Chicago in 3 days and I’m currently wondering what I was thinking to plan spring break in one of the coldest places in the US. 🤦🏽‍♀️ At least our top priority is indoors- I’ll be spending all week staring at dinosaur bones with my 5-year-old paleontologist. 🦖 Hopefully he’ll let us leave for food.

We call it Scandinavian Mountain: when a rustic ski home gets a minimalistic makeover with neutral, textured materials and clean lines. Black accents modernize the cabin and accentuate the white and wood tones. Our favorite part is the large island with rift white oak cabinetry- gorgeous and practical.

Layers of neutral textures are made complete by the incredible forest views. We could stare out these windows all day…

Contrast is one of our favorite elements of design. Matte black fixtures give a moody contrast to the white subway tile and draw your eye to the stunning view of the Tahoe National Forest just outside the bay window 🤍🖤

How to Create a Scandinavian Mountain Aesthetic - Design for Living
Our Scandinavian Mountain Truckee projects was inspired by Scandinavian design and the Danish concept of hygge. How do you create a Scandinavian aesthetic this fall? 1. Stick to a neutral color palette 2. Layer cozy textiles 3. Maximize natural light with paint colors that have a high LRF (light reflective value) and don’t block windows with cabinetry or window coverings 4. Clean lines 5. Minimal, strategically places accessories

Nature meets Nordic in this mountain home's living room. To truly capture the "Scandinavian Style," we incorporated an earthy color palette with clean lines, functional furnishings, and various textures that invite relaxation into the space. 🏔 On another note, I’ve officially managed to keep my little human alive for 5 years. Pretty proud of myself as we celebrate his birthday today 🥰
two bathroom sinks with mirrors above them

Have I mentioned my husband and I use separate bathrooms, and I’m confident it’s the secret to our 13+ years relationship?? But if we had to share, two sinks would be a must.
Rift White Oak Cabinetry - Design for Living
Rift white oak cabinetry is having a serious moment, and we are fully on board. Unlike red oak used everywhere in the 90s, which has an orange undertone and busy veining, rift white oak is soft, subtle, and incredibly versatile. We used it to bring a rustic feel to our Scandinavian Mountain kitchen, but it can be used in contemporary or earthy designs
