Dior Fall 2024

Unveiled in a show held at the Brooklyn Museum, Dior Fall 2024 by Maria Grazia Chiuri is a celebration of the indelible bond between Paris and New York, initiated by Monsieur Dior’s 1947 visit to the US a few months after his New Look debut. Representing a fertile fusion of Parisian elegance and Americana elements, the singular style of actress and House client Marlene Dietrich provides a unifying thread throughout. The show featured an installation by collective artist Claire Fontaine.

Originally referring to separates that one could easily wear to watch sports rather than play them, sportswear is the archetype of American fashion. For Dior Fall 2024, Maria Grazia Chiuri eagerly embraces the category with a contemporary mix of technical outerwear, denim, graphic prints and soft silhouettes.
With the figure of Marlene Dietrich as a key inspiration, the actress’s renowned style - with its appropriation of masculine attire on the one hand, and hyper-feminine couture on the other - came through on the Dior Fall 2024 runway in New York. Or, more specifically, the indelible bond between the House and New York, highlighted here from the wording on the tights to the newspaper print Dior Saddle bag, the beret and beatnik leather peacoat.
With Paris and New York the focus, Maria Grazia Chiuri proposed numerous examples of modern city clothes that mix ease and elegance in equal parts for Dior Fall 2024, with sporty and adaptive tailoring and outerwear, unrestrictive proportions, and comfortable, crushed velvet eveningwear.
