In this picture you will note that both the sink & the stove will be a step in on angles. The cupboard that the microwave will to under is also on an angle. Note the space savings. The vent and wiring will be at the back corner keeping the entire cupboard clear inside. All electrical plugs should have ground faults. Consult your building bylaw codes. Each plug should be on its own with its own fuse at your fuse box. If you are adding plugs ensure you have enough space on your elec.pannel.
Pick your granite. Take a drawer front or tile with you. This example is showing a beveled edge on the granite. Costs will dramatically increase for granite depending on your edging. Bull nose is usually standard.
If you plan on have a heavy counter top like granite. Suggest you add plywood top like this to ensure a sound surface. In this picture the top cupboards have been installed. NOTE; you can save a lot of money if you purchase items such as handles, sink, faucet, ... from places like ebay. Also, wait for the sales to come on at your local home improvement store. Everything goes on sale. Wait till it does, purchase it, and store it for your project.
Since this remodel involved the fridge & stove moved to another location electrical costs will be higher unless you can pull the lines yourself and then have a certified electrician & inspector look at your work. Have you noticed anything? Look at the ceiling. The balasts still need to be reshaped and a few of the ceiling pot lights needed to be moved.
Additional floor tiles put down and new bottom cupboards have been installed. Glad I had another box downstairs. Having your tile on a 45 degree angle can give the space more interest and make the room look larger. Again, this depends on the area and the size of the tile. Also, there is more scrap when you tile on 45 degree angles so order extra.
If you are not planning to replace the floor, ensure you know where your new kitchen floor cupboards & openings will be going. You may need to get those extra tiles you have downstairs. If not, it will be difficult to purchase the same tile with the same lot number.
Wiring ... so important. You will need numerous separate electrical circuits on their own separate line. Example: Microwave, Dishwasher, Fridge, ... all must have their own breaker.
Ensure you have lot of room to store the new cupboards if they arrive early.
Cupboards arrive early. But are they the right ones? Are the sizes correct? What ones are missing? Check and check again.
