Bean Hollow State Beach is a beach located in San Mateo County near Pescadero CA. The pebbles at the beach have eroded from ocean bottom deposits left millions of years ago. The stones decorate the entire beach along a stretch of Bean Hollow, and tuck themselves away in pockets of tafoni, which are small cave-like features found in granular rock such as sandstone, granite, and sandy-limestone with rounded entrances and smooth concave walls, often connected, adjacent, and/or networked.
