Berry Picking & Jam Making
Berry picking is a popular Fogo Island pastime, given there are more than 20 kinds of berry growing wild here in abundance. Guests can join our community hosts to berry pick, then later learn how to bottle and bake using their harvest, as we have done here for hundreds of years. Or you can always grab a handful as you hike and enjoy your mini harvest at peak freshness.

Connect with Nature
With longer and brighter days ahead, this island’s rugged landscape and marked trails call out for us to explore paths unknown and reconnect with the natural world. Naturalist John Muir said it best: “I only went out for a walk, and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in.”
