Horton River Delta, Arctic Canada
n the past few centuries, the Horton River in northwestern Canada stopped wandering and assumed a more direct route to the sea. Situated about 420 kilometers (260 miles) east of the Alaska border, the modern Horton River empties into Franklin Bay; but as this image shows, it once followed a different path.
Stratocumulus Clouds Over Pacific - NASA
On Jan. 4 a large presence of stratocumulus clouds was the central focus of camera lenses which remained aimed at the clouds as the Expedition 34 crew members aboard the International Space Station flew above the northwestern Pacific Ocean about 460 miles east of northern Honshu, Japan.
