I've been working away at my list of projects here in Williamsburg, both in the shop and on my own. One of my personal projects was a gown made of the reproduction chintz sold here. The chintz I really wanted is out of stock, so I chose the red "trailing vines" print. Less fitted than jackets, colonial bedgowns and short gowns provide comfort and ease when performing daily tasks. While women of the period may have worn a colonial short gown out of the house, a bedgown was typically only worn around the home. Both garments are secured with pins, allowing flexibility with sizing.
