In Michigan, where the carrying capacity of deer is higher, you will find a larger population compared to parts of Canada. Albino deer on the other hand account for roughly 2 per cent of the world’s deer population, according to Ashley Autenrieth, a deer specialist with Michigan’s Department of Natural Resources. Considering their limited numbers, Steve Lindberg, an amateur photographer from Marquette, Michigan, has been fortunate to run into them on a number of occasions during his…

Some of the fawns are pure white when born, and some have pale beige markings that soon disappear. Those with the markings that we have seen have all turned pure white after losing their “spots”. Fingers crossed that there are a few more of these beauties being born soon. Copyright 2022, Life in the Northwoods

Albino Deer or White Deer are White-tailed Deer and are quite rare in Northern Wisconsin. There are only 200 to 300 Albinos in the entire state of Wisconsin. We are very lucky to live near a State Forest and lots of private land. Albinos are protected in Northern Wisconsin and cannot be hunted. When we first moved here in 1994 we would only see a couple of Albinos every now and then. When I built a Food plot to attract deer there were 4 Albinos living on our land and another 20 or 25 within…
