A series of planted lightwells within this London house brought light into the basement areas. The slope of the site meant digging down to produce a partially subterranean ‘upside down’ house while the glass lightwells allow light and fresh air into the buried bedrooms. Slim glass doors and glass walls were used within the lightwells to maximise the light to the basement areas with floor to ceiling glazing.
