Variegated embroidery floss is so much fun to work with, and there’s so much variety out there these days! Variegated embroidery floss is dyed with a repeating pattern of colors through the floss. There can be just one color with a few different shades, or there may be several colors. Variegated floss can add a lot of texture, variety and a POP! of color to your projects.
As you use embroidery floss for a project, you'll find you're left with small bits of leftover floss. These leftover bits of floss are often referred to as Old Ratty Threads (or ORTs, for short), and newer stitchers often ask what they're "supposed" to be doing with them. As is always the case in hand embroidery, there aren't any "rules" for what to do with these leftover bits of floss. In this post, I share a few ideas for what you might do with them!
