Archimedes (287-212 B.C.) was a Greek mathematician who developed the principle of the lever and that a small weight at a distance from a fulcrum would balance a large weight near the fulcrum and that the weight and distances were in inverse proportion. He reportedly hooked up a system of levers in pulley form and singlehandedly pulled a fully laden cargo ship out of harbor and onto shore. He said: “Give me a place to stand on and I can move the world.” Famous Scientist, Math Poster, Living Books, Mystery Of History, E Mc2, Homeschool Math, Stock Art, Prayer Book, Ancient Greece
