the beach boys poster from 1970

THE BEACH BOYS "Friends" 1968 Capitol-EMI promo poster. It will always be in the shadow of their followup masterpiece "SUNFLOWER", but still deserves credit for begining their second golden era between late 1968 & the "Surf's Up"lp. "Be Still" & "Little Bird" show how genius DENNIS WILSON songs are, w/more to come.. BRIAN WILSON writes my fave "SPEED song "Busy Doing Nothing" & the band is working together. Keeping the lofi feel of "Wild Honey".. adding more innovative harmony & structure.

On July 4, 1964, The Beach Boys started a two week run at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart with "I Get Around". This was the group's first #1. Brian Wilson and Mike Love wrote the song, which is noteworthy for its back-to-front structure—it starts with a chorus and has two short verses. The "B: side of the singles was another hot Beach Boys tune, "Don't Worry Baby."
