Santa Maria Della Vita In 1286 the Bishop Ottavaiano II Ubaldini passed a statute and they began to acquire lands around Via Clavatura with the idea of setting up a hospital in the centre of the city. It remained on this site until 1725 when the hospital merged with that of Santa Maria della Morte in via Riva di Reno forming the basis of modern Bologna’s main hospital Ospedale Maggiore.
