This coin was withdrawn from circulation 1st. January 1961. The smallest British bird on the smallest value coin. This coin was introduced by King Edward VIII in 1279. Wren on a Post by Louise Scott, hand-coloured unique etching. Louise Scott is a Glasgow-based artist specialising in copper plate etching featuring Scottish wildlife and marine life. 'Wren'. Copper wren mounted on driftwood. These little copper sculptures are created using solid, copper wire which is oxidized and burnished creating a beautiful, warm, aged effect. The technique I use is a combination of binding and manipulating the wire to create a solid object with a defined shape, while at the same time holding loose lines and disorder within.
