Danish Oil - 1) Read the article, 2) ALWAYS test, and 3) WIPE it off, even after the 1st coat (even if instructions say 2nd)!! Almost done with my cedar chest, and the Danish Oil finish I used was GORGEOUS! I used 2 too thick coats so the chest was a sticky mess for 3 days. I wiped it down with a mix of rubbing alcohol and vinegar (my alternative for mineral spirits/denatured alcohol) to gradually remove a few thin layers of the finish. Sanding did NOT work as the finish was so tacky.
