Each year there are a few groups of birds on Lake Ontario that forget what the greater population is doing and stay through the colder months. I will see them crowded under a small bridge when the lake freezes over in Jnauary... large groups of swans and ducks get nice and cozy in order to make it through the worst part of winter. Yesterday I stopped my bike by this little pond for some reflection and noticed that a beaver dam was being built in the middle. Signs of serious beaver activity with toppled trees and chewed stumps were a nice surprise. Breaking from busy city streets is a good idea when Toronto is back to the old normal. When you let Mother Nature lead you with her utter simplicity, you can't help but feel so much gratitude to be alive. This was the most beautiful sunset to end the beautiful month of August in Northern Ontario.
