Operation Christmas Child®
Dominika was raised in Slovakia, and her family was very poor. When she was four years old, her father left them, and her mother had no money to buy gifts for Christmas. That year, Dominika received a shoe box gift from Operation Christmas Child. For the first time, as she read the note in her box talking about Jesus' love, she felt that someone loved her.
Operation Christmas Child®
Sorina was 11-years-old when she received her shoe box gift from Operation Christmas Child. Growing up in communist Romania, her family didn’t have much. That particular Christmas she had wished for a scarf and gloves because of the harsh winters. When Sorina opened her box, she found the very things she had hoped for: a brand new scarf, hat and mitten set. At the age of 17 she accepted Christ into her heart and was baptized shortly after.

Yuliya received a beautiful purple shoebox gift from Operation Christmas Child when she was in the 4th grade. Even though Yuliya did not understand why someone from the U.S. would send her a gift, she was excited to receive so many beautiful new things. At the time, Yuliya’s favorite item in the shoebox was a stuffed dog. Now looking back, she realizes that the letter from the girl who sent the gift was the most important item.

Nastia was raised by a dysfunctional family living in the Ukraine. In & out of orphanages, Nastia received a shoebox gift from OCC as a 3-yr-old. She wasn’t allowed to keep anything when she was adopted from the orphanage, except the Gospel booklet she slept with under her pillow every night. When she was adopted, Nastia attended an OCC assembly at her school. She shared her testimony for her classmates & now packs shoebox gifts with them.
Julia was born in Ukraine into a family full of poverty, pain & addiction. One day, children in Julia’s church received brightly colored shoeboxes from OCC. Julia not only got a gift that day, but finally something to call her own. In her box she found candy, make-up, jewelry and other girl items. Julia began dreaming of moving to the USA. She would save her candy wrappers because they said “Made in USA” which gave her hope of a safe place.

Dana grew up in Romania with parents who neglected her. When she was in high school, she received an Operation Christmas Child shoe box gift. She gave her life to the Lord, and now works in America with groups of deaf college students to spread the joy of salvation. Her goal is to eventually establish a Christian School for the Deaf in Romania!
