It happened when I got married. My mom almost gleefully gave me TEN bins of all the items she'd saved from my childhood. And I stored them in the attic. For years! Every time I glanced at those huge bins, I grew overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of childhood memories that must be inside! But I finally went through them all and feel huge relief now that I'm letting go and have kept only the things that mean the most to me--they fit into just one bin! Decluttering sentimental items IS doable.
