Eilene Johnson on Instagram: "Ever wonder how to sew a square in a square block? I’m showing 2 techniques! Here are some tips: - I used a 2 1/2” acrylic square template and fussy cut a strawberry in the middle. - cut a background square at 5 1/2” (you can do any size center square-just add 3” to the size of the center square to get the measurement for the background square) - lay the center square onto the background square in the middle, with the background square on the diagonal. - use a piece of cardstock to use as a guide to fold over sides and press. Use a 1/4” seam to sew around all 4 sides. - trim finished block using lines on a ruler to keep the square even and trim 1/4” away from the corners. - for the outside square, cut 2 squares of fabric 1 1/2” larger than your finished block
