Howard Hughes inspecting his Hughes H-4 Hercules. Named the 'Spruce Goose' it remains the biggest flying boat ever built - with the largest wing span of any aircraft even today. He piloted the first flight (from Long Beach, California) in November 1947 with 35 crew and guests on board.
