Checkout this recent interview which appears in Authority Magazine on The 5 Things You Need To Be A Successful Author or Writer. Making the time to write every day. Write as much as you can each day. As little as 500 words a day, five times per week, would yield a standard-sized novel of 70,000 to 90,000 words in as little as 28 to 38 weeks. #outfoxed #crimefiction #adventure #Williamfox #books #thriller
Outfoxed - The Inspiration
The book that insired me to write Outfoxed is titled 1421; The Year China Discovered the World, written by the late Gavin Menzies. Part of his hypothesis was that the Starfleet, commanded by Admiral Zheng He, may have reached the Americas before Christopher Columbus. My question is What if Adminral Zheng He left treasure behind? #outfoxed #crimefiction #adventure #Williamfox #books #thriller
The 5 Things You Need To Be A Successful Author or Writer Tip 5
Tip 5: Use a system to keep track of characters, plots and timelines. Whether you are a plotter (following a predetermined plotline) or a pantser (writing as you go) you need to keep track of your characters. For example, I have created character arcs for my main characters such as their ages, likes and dislikes and physical descriptions. Finally, I use a whiteboard for quick reference on my characters, the plot, and the timeline .#outfoxed #crimefiction #adventure #Williamfox #books #thriller
The 5 Things You Need To Be A Successful Author or Writer Tip 4
Tip 4: Join a Writers Group — don’t be afraid to ask for advice. Most towns and cities have writing groups. It is a healthy environment for beginners and seasoned writers to join. Seasoned writers often provide mentorship to aspiring authors. Before being published, I was an associate member of the Crime Writers of Canada and their seminars on writing, editing and publishing were invaluable. #outfoxed #crimefiction #adventure #Williamfox #books #thriller
The 5 Things You Need To Be A Successful Author or Writer Tip 3
Tip 3: Allocate a space to write without distraction. I used to write in my old business office which is a very interesting place. The walls are adorned with car trophies, car models and memorabilia and the view out the windows is beautiful. I found I was looking at these things whI have taken over our library, which is a much smaller room in our home, but it’s cozy, and there are no distractions so I can concentrate on my work. #outfoxed #crimefiction #adventure #Williamfox #books #thriller

Glory Days of Chumpcar Racing
Interviewers often ask if my racing experience was an asset when writing my adventure book, Outfoxed. And indeed it was! It was an exciting time of my life. As a member of the Ontario Jaguar Owners Association, I was involved in slalom racing. Slalom racing consisted of racing around pylons in an arena, hourglass and then a figure 8 pattern. One year, I won third place in North America. It was quite an accomplishment.
