1981 CHECKER MARATHON SEDAN: In 1922, the Checker Cab Manufacturing Company was formed in Kalamazoo, Michigan. It would later become the Checker Motors Corporation. The Checker automobile was a by-product of the Checker Cab, one of the most prolific and prominent of all taxicabs produced in the United States.
