We like watching TV shows because modern television is in some aspects even better than movies. In fact, TV dramas have plenty to teach films about characterization, storytelling, and breaking new talents. Surprisingly, lots of great TV shows have neither gotten any awards nor received a lot of attention from critics, but that hasn't stopped them from winning millions of fans worldwide, and with good reason.
