Assessment Notebooks for The Four Frames (The Ontario K Program) - NO DLMB

07.29.22: Updated to reflect the 2019 addendum (expectation 6.4 in Self-Regulation and Well-Being and 24.1 in Problem Solving & Innovating) Although the title of this product mentions four frames, the tracking sheets included in this product is ONLY FOR THREE of the four frames. The frames are Belonging & Contributing, Self-Regulation & Well-Being and PSI. ALSO not all expectations are included and expectations that appear in more than one frame are only included in one. Do you struggle with documenting behaviours for belonging and contributing, self-regulation and well-being and problem-solving and innovating? Did you struggle last year with transitioning your thinking from outcomes to growth based on the new Ontario Kindergarten Program, 2016 that was implemented in FDK classrooms? I have lots of math and literacy data but when it came time to write the communication of learning this year I struggled with remembering where the students were at the beginning of the reporting period and wrapping my head around which expectation I should write about in which frame. So I created these assessment notebooks (you could also but them in binders) for this coming year! The cover has the big ideas so you can scan and grab the right notebook to document in. Then there is an expectation cheat sheet for each frame where I sort the expectations into common categories and into classroom friendly language. This works well as a quick reference for the whole class tracker! Next there is a whole class tracker for each frame where you can easily check off when you have data on that student for each expectation. This way you can quickly glance and see which students/frames you need to document more. On the tracking pages there is a place to write the chid's name and record the dates you recorded the assessment(s). I am planning to do each one (BOY: beginning of the year, IO: initial observation, COL #1: communication of learning #1 and COL #2) in different colours to show when it was documented and to show their growth. Each expectation is listed with a scale underneath where you can track your students initial development and any growth. There is also a "notes" section at the end of each page to record any anecdotal notes or quotes you want to remember for reporting. You can add a blank lined piece of paper at the end of each child's tracking sheets too to give you more space to write your notes. Self-Regulation and Well-being follow the same format. Problem-Solving and Innovating also have the cover page, expectation cheat sheet and whole class tracker but I didn't add a scale for this section. For PSI I find it more beneficial to just write general notes on what I observed during lessons/small group work on lined sheets of paper. So I plan to copy the 3 tracking sheets for each student but also add a bunch of lined sheets at the end of the notebook so I can document there and then transfer information to the appropriate student and under the appropriate expectation. How I plan to set these up: - Make 3 seperate notebooks - Print the cover, cheat sheet and tracker (you will probably need 2 sheets for each tracker as you will most likely have more than 20 students and it's good to leave room for new students you may get throughout the year!) for each notebook - Copy a set of the individual tracking sheets for each student.
