1940 - 1945. View of the Asterdorp in Amsterdam-Noord. 300 Jewish citizens, destined to be deported to concentration camps were temporary housed in Asterdorp during the Nazi-occupation of Amsterdam. Asterdorp was initially built in 1927 as a 132 unit public housing complex for a-social families from impoverished neighborhoods of Amsterdam. Asterdorp was demolished in 1955.
