Use these cards to help students review and arrange the different dynamic markings from loudest to softest or softest to loudest. I write the meanings on the back of each bar in case the students need to recall the meaning. For my ELL students I have found that color coding helps students see the difference between the symbols (especially in 1st grade). Students in 2nd grade can start to connect the letters to meaning different words (i.e. p = soft, so anytime there is a p in the dynamic marking, it is a kind of soft. In upper grades (3-5) these work as good review activities for centers. Use the crescendo and decrescendo cards as extension activities with the dynamic markings. Check out my PowerPoint that I use to teach dynamics before using these cards here: http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/A-Lesson-in-Dynamics-PowerPoint-913809
