This is a great functional counting activity to simulate taking inventory. These resources consists of 2-3 sets of 2-stocked shelves and differentiated inventory sheets. Each inventory sheet has pictures with words. There are 39 pages in total/13 Inventory sets. To use: Print all shelves in color and laminate for continued use. Print inventory sheets grey scale or color on standard copy paper for worksheets. To make it a little more realistic, post the shelf on the wall, and have them stand up to complete their inventory form on a clipboard. Student Use Directions: Have students look at inventory list. Give them the first set of shelves for that set. Tell them to count the number of items, then record the number in the space next to the picture or name of item under "Day 1". Once inventory for that sheet has been completed, or on the following day, give them the second set of shelves for that set. Tell them to count the items, then record under "Day 2. Once finished, or on the following day, have them look for changes in their inventory. Depending on the level of your learner, they could record changes using just + or – to record changes. Another option is to have them subtract Day 2 from Day 1 and record the change as - (I.e. -2 ). If the item has gone up, teach them to subtract Day 2 from Day 1 and record as + (I.e. +2). Of course, there is also the option of a simple yes/no.
