The Canadian version of Hello Kitty. Canadian lynx are present in forest across Canada, but it’s extremely rare to see one - these stealthy cats avoid humans. This one was spotted by a wildlife photographer in Ontario’s Algonquin Park. Why do they have such big paws? Every year, on the last weekend of November, Toronto kicks off the holiday season with the Cavalcade of Lights. During the event, the 525,000 twinkling lights on Toronto’s official Christmas tree get lit up. Participants are treated to a skating party complete with fireworks and live music. Don’t worry if you missed the festivities, you can go skating at Nathan Phillips Square all winter (rentals are $10 for adults, $5 for kids).

Spend a night under the stars at Kouchibouguac National Park, on New Brunswick’s Acadian Coastal Route. Kouchibouguac (pronounced koo-she-boo-gwack) means, “river of long tides” in the First Nation’s language, Mi’kmaq. It’s home to some of the warmest salt water north of Virginia and the perfect place to spend a few days with sand between your toes. 📷: @bluegreenorange 📍: @destinationnb

Bison traffic jam ahead! If you would like to see these stunning beasts in the wild, head to Elk Island National Park, located just 35 minutes outside of Edmonton. This national park is an important refuge not only for bison, but also for elk and over 250 bird species.
