Seven Pillars of Wisdom Book Cover
On my way home from running errands on New Year's Eve (during the day) I stopped into a used book shop and found an eighth printing of the 1935 Jonathan Cape edition of TE Lawrence's Seven Pillars of Wisdom for not much money at all. The book itself was intact and in pretty good shape considering. The dust jacket though, made of plain paper, was in rough shape. So I decided to make a new dust jacket, starting with the original's simple and elegant typography set in Perpetua Titling, designed by Eric Gill, which had only been on the market for about a decade then. I'll get it printed and laminated sometime soon. As much as I love comics, I really don't get to do enough print design these days and that makes me a little sad.
The Beetle by Richard Marsh
One of the first great #horror #novels of the modern age, bridging the end of Victorian times with the tumult that would soon grip the early 20th century. Released the same year as Bram Stoker's #Dracula, The Beetle rivalled it in popularity, initially outselling the more famous book. Yours to discover.
