In this video I demonstrate how to weld a briolette drop so you can slide on any chain to make a necklace or a bracelet. Learn how to master this technique of welding fine wire and drops step by step guided by this video. This necklace design shows how to wire wrap an emerald cut blue topaz into a long pendant using 24 gauge gold filled wire. Start with 11” or more of wire and make a loop with a generous amount of wire to wrap a longer neck. Wrap the top loop and keep wrapping around the wire in order to strengthen it. Thread the bead and, an inch below the bead, bend the wire back and press down with a pair of flat (chain nose) pliers.
This necklace design demonstrates how to create a decorative pendant. When the pendant has a wide or flat edge or bottom, you can wire wrap multiple wires to create a metal accent in the middle of the pendant. The secret is to pinch the wires together at each stage of wire wrapping and to keep consistent tension throughout.

In this video, I demonstrate the best and easiest way to turn a pendant into a connector, by welding a jump ring onto the bezel. You can place the jump ring anywhere in the bezel, so it's perfect for jewelry design.
Sometimes links in our favourite chain are too small to easily fit the jump rings we want to thread through. This is the case for my gold filled satellite chain (CX08G). Often times, the links are oval or twist (curb is oval with a slight twist design). In this case, you can enlarge the link by making it circular to fit a jump ring. You can do this by simply using a push pin with a slender tip. Work at it slowly in circular motion.

In this #welding video, I demonstrate how to weld drops onto any existing piece of jewelry, such as rings, and permanent bracelets or bangles, without having to cut your existing piece of jewelry. By using thin wire that can go through the hole of the bead twice, you can add a bead charm very easily by welding. The same method can be done for interchangeable charms (that can be slid off or added on hoops or earring hooks.

This method is safe on silver, gold, brass and copper.  It is the preferred method of cleaning for museums and removes only the tarnish and not any layers of the metal.  It is also non-toxic and harmful to the environment. Start with a bowl, tin foil, tablespoon of baking soda and a litre of hot water.  Stir and put the silver in. After 15 seconds, there was still tarnish. I then took a sponge rubbed the ball stud on the baking soda and the tarnish came off very easily.

In this video, I demonstrate how to make a pair of pearl drop stud earrings with a hand stamped initial for my daughter, using arc pulse micro welding. In this case, I set the welder to 15W Power and have the electrode pointing at the seam between the base and the sheet of metal, with more of it leaning towards the base because I want that to melt onto the sheet.

This video shows you how easy it is to attach a briolette (teardrop) stone by welding. It only takes seconds, and anyone can do it - as opposed to wirewrapping, which takes time and some skill. In this video, I am using 26 gauge 925 silver wire, 9W power, and I weld the tip. In a snap, it balls up and the two sides are fused together. If you are using finer wire, you may wish to reduce the power to 8w. If you do not like the ball, you can use a pair of pliers to either flatten or to enhance.
