We repurposed a desk that we bought for $40 and converted into a kitchen island!! We added a 2" thick counter top which extended the top by 4" on each end and 2" on the sides. Since we live in an apartment, it was made so the top can be removed for easy moving when needed. We also placed 4 locking casters on the bottom which makes it very easy to move around, if needed.
