Nina Simone has one of the most unique voices of her era, one that we might never have heard was it not for the owner of the Midtown Bar & Grill on Pacific Avenue in Atlantic City. He had insisted she sing alongside playing the piano which not only increased her weekly salary but thankfully ensured her unique combination of jazz, blues, folk and R&B would be listened to the world over.
